Why Consider Executive Function Skill-Building?
Â
Adults who face challenges like ADHD, autism, PTSD, or learning difficulties often encounter significant barriers to achieving their professional and personal goals. Executive functions—such as time management, attention, organization, planning, goal setting, emotional regulation, and flexible thinking—are critical for navigating work environments and achieving sustainable independence. For individuals with neurodivergent conditions or mental health challenges, these skills are often areas of struggle, leading to overwhelm, missed opportunities, or stalled progress.
Â
Although there are excellent resources out there - simply reading a blog, a book ,or a list of recommendations can be overwhelming. The value of therapeutic support is that you get to experiment with building the habits that work best for you with the support and accountability that promotes success.
Â
Here is a 14 minute video introduction to executive function skills for vocational rehabilitation counselors and clients. Please note that the current program runs for 8 weeks not not twelve to make it more accessible for client schedules.
